More Gator pictures . . . (Reposted for Kay)

This monster was crossing a street near my home. 10-12 ft. long.

This little guy made me nervous. Momma had to be close by.
Camera shy?

I just can't imagine seeing that. I'm used to deer and squirrels, a few wild turkeys and bunnies... but nothing that could injure me!

I almost stepped on one once. He was just outside my doorway. I took a rope, lasso'd him, threw him in the back of my truck, and released him down the road. Did I mention that my house (I moved last year) was surrounded by swamp? And yes, gators are much faster than they look.

I'm more afraid of the water mocassins. They're hard to spot and all it takes is one strike.

Tip of the day: Never throw a shoe at an armadillo.

Wow! Definitely different kind of scenery and wildlife!
Ok, I have to ask...
Why? Why can't I throw a shoe at an armadillo?

One night I went outside to take out the garbage. (My porch was about 3 1/2 ft off the ground.) I looked down and saw two armadillos at the foot of my steps. So I tried to scare them away be dropping a shoe on one.

What I found out is that an armadillo can leap two to three feet off the ground, but here's the kicker - they go almost straight up. And they come after you. I had to go out later and scrape my heart off the porch ceiling.

LOL. that literally made me LOL!
OK, I will take your advice, should armadillos ever migrate up here.
